Ronald Merritt Kirkbride, age 85, passed away on January 12, 2018, at home. He was born on December 27, 1932, in Dayton, Idaho, the last child of eleven, born to Charles Franklin and Martha Vinnie Merritt Kirkbride.

He lived most of his life in Idaho and Utah, attended schools in California and Idaho, and graduated with his class from Preston High School in 1952.

He married Eleanor Jepsen on December 27, 1951, in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple.

Ron was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many positions on both ward and stake levels, including Stake Mission President, Ward Clerk, Executive Secretary, and High Priest Quorum Instructor. He served three stake missions and a full-time mission with his wife in the Washington Seattle mission.

He worked thirty-five years for Utah Power & Light Company in many different positions and locations throughout Utah and Idaho, retiring in 1987. He has degrees in Business Management and Electrical Engineering.

After retirement, he developed a passion for family history research and writing life sketches of his ancestors. He was instrumental in furthering a family association to continue genealogical interests and preservation of family ties. He traveled to England in 2006 to do additional research and find locations where his ancestors lived, married, and died.

He was preceded in death by his parents; nine siblings; and one son, Ronald Jeffrey Kirkbride. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, and daughter, Kimberly (Mark) Hadley. He has five grandchildren: Melissa, Ranae, Randon, Elizabeth and Sara.

He has nine great grandchildren: Matthew, Sophia, Hailee, Madison, Chace, Morgan, Dillon, Jacob and Ivy. Also surviving is his sister, Ardella Bosworth.

The family expresses their love and thanks to Dr. Kathleen DeRemer, Summit Hospice (Jenny, Janis, Betty Jane, Holly, Ashley and Shontel) for their care and support.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to your favorite charity.

A viewing will be held Friday, January 19, 2018, at Myers from 6-8 p.m., and Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018, at 11 a.m., at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. Ogden, UT. Interment will be in the Ben Lomond Cemetery.
