Walter F. Parrish celebrates his 103rd birthday today at the Villas at Bear Creek. He was born September, 11 1914, on a ten-acre farm in West Kaysville, UT, to Warren Asa and Willmetta Forman Parrish. He had six brothers and one sister (all in Heaven). Raised in Davis County, UT, he graduated from Davis High School and attended Weber State University.
He attended the Governor's Century Club Celebration and luncheon for being a Utah Centenarian.
Walt married the love of his life, Pearl Wright, on September 19, 1936. They were married for 73 years until her passing on July 13, 2009. Together they raised four children: Walt (Hazel) Parrish, Brent (Jeanine) Parrish, Joan (Noal) Johnston, and (Maddy) Parrish.
Walt worked at the Salt Lake Army Depot, Wood Motor, and Hill Air Force Base. Some of his hobbies include reading, writing his family history and spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His favorite accomplishments are his marriage to Pearl, raising four children, working on airplanes at Hill Air Force Base with Gail Halvorsen, the Candy Bomber. He loved to serve others with his mechanical skills.
His family is thrilled that he is celebrating 103 years! Walt is loved and adored by his family and friends and all are excited to celebrate with him.
Walt's secret to longevity:
Keeping active, never complaining,
and to smile a lot.
